Messages receive sound

I know how to change the sound when you receive a text when the Messages app window isn't active, but the ring tone choices are all too loud... What happened to the old receive calm swoosh noise the Mavericks had?

Edit: The old sound I am talking about it is the sound when you're on your iPhone and you have the Message app active while talking to someone there is two sounds, sending and receiving... OS X Mavericks had that nice calm sound when receiving messages on the computer, now its a loud "PING" or other noises you can select.

It's still there. Go into Messages Preferences.

Now thats not the sound I am talking about. That's the Swoosh mail sending sound.

No go to your iPhone, turn sound on and send and receive a text while the Message app is active... the sound you receive from the other person is the sound that use to be ALWAYS on the Messages app. Now it only plays that noise if the App is Active - which is extremely annoying.

Okay, I'm with you now.

The next time I boot into Mavericks, in a little while, I'm going to check it out again. I've changed my defaults to something else, so I don't specifically recall what it is.

The next time I boot into Mavericks, in a little while, I'm going to check it out again. I've changed my defaults to something else, so I don't specifically recall what it is.

Yeah, it only plays that calm sound when the window is active (meaning your using it). But when I have it in the background (99% of the time), you can only set it to those loud cell phone ring tones. Rather annoying.

And of course, if you shut it off... then you get no sounds active or inactive window. I don't want that.
