My pal and I both upgraded to iPhone X today. Both loaded from iCloud backups of our previous phones.

He upgraded first and I noticed his texts were coming from his email address, splitting our iMessage history into a new thread. I asked him to check and his Settings -> Messages -> Send & Receive -> Start New Conversations From selection was still his phone number.

I upgraded later in the day and same thing, my messages are now coming from my email address, splitting into a new thread.

Anyone know why this might be happening? It is pretty annoying, I want to stay on the old thread which is quite long, and now I think all my messages we've sent since upgrading will be lost since they can't be merged.
