As the title states, over the last few days my messages app on my MBA has been showing numbers for my facebook contacts instead of their names. I'm assuming the numbers are the phone numbers linked to their accounts, but that doesn't help me since I haven't memorized a phone number since 2003 or so. It started a few days ago and continues through today. I can close then restart the messages app, and the names show up for a little bit, but then a few minutes later the numbers are back again. I did a google search and searched on here as well but don't find anybody having the same issue. Anybody have a clue what's going on and/or how to fix it? I've never had this issue till the last couple of days or so.

I have been having the same thing happen and started at the same time. I just searched for the problem and came across your thread. I wasn't really expecting any results since I didn't think many people used Messages for Facebook like I do.

You can get it to switch back by disabling and then enabling the account, but the problem comes back quickly.

Don't know what to do about it. It's kind of annoying.

Oh, and the numbers aren't phone numbers but appear to be profile IDs.

I may trying contacting Facebook. If I get a response, I'll respond here again.

Same issue. Changing status to Offline and then back to Available solves issue, but sometimes only for a few seconds. Very frustrating.

I'm having this issue too - it's fine across all my iOS devices and my old MacBook. On my new iMac though, some contacts have names and some do not - when I open the Contacts app everything is correct.
