Messages Video and Audio Chat and Screen Sharing

I have a problem with my brand new mac, it won't let me use any of the special features, only text chat. Sometimes invitations go through to other people, sometimes they don't. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What are you using to chat? Is it Apple's Messages application? Are you trying to go other 10.8.x machines or to older OS C or some Windows flavor machine?

Tried to video chat my friend on (who is on Mountain Lion as well) and it didn't work. I added the appleu3test people and it didn't work either.

This is not a Hackintosh, it is a new MacBook Pro.
