This is a very specific issue that won't matter for many (most) of you, but they seem to have updated the minimum width of Messages in the latest beta of El Cap to be a few extra pixels wider.

This might not seem like that big a deal – and again it won't be for most – but now it can't display in two column view when placed next to Slack on a 12" Macbook with maximally scaled resolution or 13" Macbook Air. And that is super annoying.

Just wanted to share my frustration. Also, yeah, yeah. I know this probably doesn't matter to any of you.

But maybe someone here, like me, installed the update and was like "whaaaaat." Maybe? :)

Here's a screenshot showing Messages forced into single column view:

Provide screenshots of a mock convo, otherwise it's very hard to picture what you're describing.

Added a screenshot to the original post. Slack can't go any narrower than that (it's about 55% the width of the screen), so Messages is forced into one column. In the previous version of El Cap, Messages would display as two columns at this width.
