So Verizon and At&t just came out with the support for dual sim. I got my XS Max on with both carriers. Verizon for work and AT&T for personal. The messaging is a little tricky. if I don't have you in my current messaging thread it allows you to pick what number you want to message them from. If you are already in my messaging thread then it doesn't allow me to pick which number...it defalts to the personal cell which is the number I picked as primary...any help on this?

That’s exactly how it works. It’s crap.

If you want to SMS somebody from your other number (say your business line when on a trip) Apple expect you to delete your ENTIRE thread and start all over again.

I'm curious, was VZN your original carrier, or AT&T? I'm trying to figure out if you or anyone else who was originally on VZN, has had luck with moving their phone number from physical to eSIM?

Yeah, I found this out. Some data I didn't want to lose but was the only way I was able to send a message to some folks from Business line.

the XS Max was on my AT&T (personal Line) and added the Verizon (business line) to the e-sim on said phone. So, I found out that I have to delete a thread to start a new conversation to pick which line I want start convo from. Once you start that convo from that line, it can't be changed without deleting the thread again...Hope this can be an update so you can change it.

I did. It only took 4 hours on the phone with Verizon.

  1. Call Tech Support 1-866-221-4096
  2. They should delete your physical SIM card information
  3. They will input the IMEI number under the Digital SIM info in Settings.
  4. This will begin activation and generate a QR code they will email you.
  5. Scan it, and it should work.
  6. Activation and connection to LTE takes about 5 minutes.
