Hi all,

I’m having issues with my iPhone 1.1.1 (I use Windows XP, but have access to a Mac if necessary). It was unlocked by an eBay seller using anySIM.

Last week my phone permanently lost service, but maintained all other functions working. I spent two days reading blogs and found out that this was a common problem. I tried doing what says here: http://www.gsmhosting.com/vbb/archive/index.php/t-449182.html but after downloading iBrickr I wasn’t able to get Launchctl GUI. Every time I tried to download it I got an error. I used iBrickr to upload a ringtone, but I’m not sure if that worked either.

So I found this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/327489/ and based on the solution given there decided to use KiPhone to erase the baseband. This was a bad idea. Now the phone lost sound, the iPod’s songs don’t run, I can’t dial phone numbers, and last night it gave me a message saying that the phone needed to be repaired and that I couldn’t make calls.

I’m a total newbie to the apple hacks so today I looked around town for an expert to fix it for me, but wasn’t able to find anyone. iPhones are rare in my country. I asked two IT guys and neither knew anything about iPhones.

So I would like to please check with you guys before I do anything that could further damage my phone. I was thinking about virginizing the phone (which I guess puts it back to factory state), restore it to 1.1.4, and using ZiPhone to unlock, jailbreak, and activate. Today I read about Pwnage and WinPwn and I don’t know if using those would be better.

Do you guys know if only restoring the phone will bring it back to normal? and if I’m able to bring it back, would my No Signal be fixed?

I’d appreciate your help. Thank you in advance!

Just use Pwnage

Ive never used winpwn, but Pwnage works incredibly well. I would think that if you were to create your custom 2.0 firmware file using Pwnage/winpwn, that you could then do the following:

1. Put the phone in DFU mode
2. Restore using the custom firmware

That should be all that you have to do to make it work again. If you need some help, email me.

Thanks for replying. I will use winpwn, since it's supposed to do the same thing as Pwnage. Just one question though, the first thread on this forum says that
Pwnage uses BootNeuter in order to unlock the baseband and trim the bootloader to our liking. BootNeuter only works on 1st Gen iPhones on 1.1.4 or 2.0.0.
and the iClarified tutorial says that
These are instructions on how to unlock and jailbreak your 2.0, 2G iPhone using Windows and WinPwn.
Will it still work for my 1.1.1 iPhone?

Please I need help

I learned how to use Winpwn and have my phone at 1.1.4 now, unlocked and activated, BUT IT STILL SHOWS NO SIGNAL :(

Once the process was done it showed full bars and the carrier's name, but a second later it went back to no service.

PLEASE HELP!

I now know that it's not the baseband as the Winpwn update flashed the baseband. I don't know what to do! I'll take it to 2.0 to see if it improves . I tried my SIM on another phone and it worked fine.

Hi J.Opt

I had the exact same probem NO SERVICE for a full week after I done a restore, My friend went thought all the steps Hiberian discribes on this post and it's working fines now https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/327489/

Have another go from step 1.. beat of luck

I'll do it from step 1. I previously had followed this, but only starting from step 10. The only thing that worries me is using Ziphone because I heard it damages some stuff on the basebands, but I don't care anymore.

The instructions work great. I got to step 4 and got the itunes error, but them launched iBrickr and it doesn't recognize my phone.

On step 1 when it says to update to version 2, it means to use iTunes to restore to the 2.0 firmware, right?

YOUR INPUT IS APPRECIATED
