iPhone Messenger acting weird?

This is kind of a shot in the dark asking this, the last few days i've noticed my phone (while within a text conversation with someone) when I receive a text it shows I have a new one (to the person I am texting with). So I have to go out to the main text screen and go back into the convo to get rid of the Message(1) message.

Does anyone know why this glitch is happening? Has anyone ever seen this before? I tried a respring thinking that would fix it but it didn't.

Yes it's a glitch and a bloody old one to! I have this invisible message glitch too. Have to come out. Close messages in the multitasking bar then reopen for the message to show!

so is there any fixes to either (besides probably updating to a newer IOS)

Edit:So I fixed it, not sure what fixed it (or even caused it for that matter)
