Is the metallic pin always stainless steel? Or are they also available with a silver aluminum pin, for those who own a silver aluminum watch?
There is no aluminum pin.Is the metallic pin always stainless steel? Or are they also available with a silver aluminum pin, for those who own a silver aluminum watch?
I think he's asking about the material it's made out of, not color. The sport bands that come packaged with different watches come with pins that match the case of the watch.
The bands you can buy separately, though, only come with silver (except that the black band can be had with either a silver or black pin).
And, yes, they're not silicone. Whatever the material really is (Apple calls it "flouroastomer", but I think I spelled it wrong), it's nicer than any silicone strap I've seen. Easy to clean, doesn't stretch, doesn't grab dust...

Sports watch with white band has SS pin, not aluminum (nor match silver aluminum color). I think aluminum may not be strong enough or possibly bend if it was used as the pin. There is no aluminum pin period! Even if you buy SG sports w/ black band it comes with black SS pin.So if I buy a silver aluminum watch with a white sports band, the pin will be silver color, matching the case....but if I buy additional sports bands the pins will always be stainless steel, thus NOT matching the case. This seems odd to me. Only the original band has a pin that matches the color of the Watch case?
For this question, YES. If you get a gold aluminum AW, its sport band is colored gold, too. BUT, you can't buy another sport band with a gold-colored pin.Only the original band has a pin that matches the color of the Watch case?
Is it feasible to remove the metallic pin from the original sports band and swap it out with the non matching pin in replacement bands??
But only for the "regular" sized bands. On the plus side, the pin section of the band is the same size for all bands. The OEM Flueroastamer Apple band has a stainless steel pin. There is no aluminum pin. There is a black band option that has a black stainless steel pin.
