Metax deletes chapter markers...

I just ripped a bunch of movies this weekend with the new svn and noticed the same issues. Chapters appear to be there from HB but are somehow lost when put through MetaX. I feel your pain...
 
I'm having the same issue even with chapters unchecked. I'll try again tonight to see if i have different results.
 
The issue is that I have typically use Metax to label chapters. Unchecking chapters does prevent the marker deleting, but now I have a bunch of movies without labeled chapters.

Is there any other programs that may work for chapter labels on a mac (aside from using HB to label chapters upfront because that wont help the movies I have already encoded)?

Also, from what I understand this is a MetaX issue not a HB issue. Has anybody heard about a MetaX update to address this, however I am guessing they will most likely not update until 0.9.3 is officially released (not as a snapshot).

I sent an email to the MetaX folks and never got a reply.
 
HB 0.9.3 was released yesterday. Has anyone tried running a video encoded with this version through MetaX yet?

metax will behave the same as before. it will erase HB's chapter markers if its checked in metax.

I'm just curious to know why this would be a MetaX issue as it worked before Handbrake changed and they didn't change anything? Unless MetaX is not following some guideline/rules I would think this is a Handbrake issue which they could correct (make it like before)..
 
it was the same with the previous version of handbrake also.

i would convert a DVD to mp4 using handbrake, it would have the chapters set as per the DVD. i would then run it thru metax to set the tags, and once complete the chapters would no longer be there.

didn't matter if i unchecked the chapters box in metax or not, regardless the chapters got stripped out.

either that, or the way the chapters are being written to the file is incompatible with what appletv is looking for.

No, same is true in qt player.app not just the atv. its because the chapters are tied to the video track in HB (which is the correct way to ensure proper chapter timing) and the audio track in MetaX. We have tried to contact kerstetter about this but have yet received no reply. In fact afaik metax is more or less advancing at a glacial pace at best (though afaik is still arguably the best meta tagger out there sans the chapter bug with hb). Your HB chapters should remain intact as long as you uncheck the chapters checkbox in metaX (at least it does for me and I use it pretty much every day).

definetely not for me.
i have tested one i just added to itunes and when i hold play/pause, i don't get the chapter options appearing.
 
In case anyone missed it the latest update to MetaX, 2.4.6, has fixed this problem.
