So, for quite a while now, whenever I had a MOV file that I wanted to add to the Apple TV, I could tag it in MetaX, add it in, slightly change the name and my tags would show up. However, all of a sudden that has stopped working in iTunes 8.0.1 for me. Anybody else having that problem? I've done something to make my computer anger, haven't I?

So, are theEsquire and I the only two having this problem? How are you guys tagging your .mov files and getting those tags to show in iTunes 8.0.1? Does it still work for everyone else?

I have the same problem, after tagging nothing would show up, but I found a solution to make the description / album cover etc show up. After you add the file to your library and see that nothing is showing up, right click on the file select "Get Info" go to "Options" and change the media type to TV Show and press okay, then after that the tags should show up, go back into it and change it back to Movie and everything should work just fine., and it will be put back into your movies.

Thanks for the idea and reply, Andrew!

I don't now about theEsquire but I'm sad to report that didn't work for me. When I changed it to "TV Show", it showed up as "unknown album" and when I switched it back to movie, I get the same lack of tag info. The funny thing is, the tag information is still there as when I open it up in MetaX (and I have three different computers running MetaX that I've tried this on) it's all still there. Weird!

Anyone else having this trouble or have any ideas? It's only a recent problem as I've been able to tag MOVs in the past and those still show up. It's recent MOVs (since the 8.0.1 iTunes upgrade) that don't play nice.

Same thing happened with me... i'm in another thread talking about this and i came across this one ....

i switch it to tv show, same screenshot i see, move it back to movie same thing ... and, in metax the tags are updated as if the file contains the artwork and data already!!

i guess i'm scrapping .mov's with 5.1... going with stereo mp4's ... sucks!

Sadly, that's kind of the conclusion I was coming to as well.

You would think, being as it is an Apple format, MOV's would be "tag-able" and play nice with their Quicktime based iTunes.

Anybody know a way around this?

I'm so pissed off with MetaX, it slows down my machine, it takes ages to tag the bloody files, now it has stopped working all together, and i have tried getting in touch with the Author many time through-out the year and getting no response.

In the meantime i have been using "mp4v2-1.9.0" (commandline), it tags everything in seconds. I have started encoding Blu ray to ATV and it can dump the chapters from my old files & import them into the new one, god it can even auto insert chapters. :D

I want to make a GUI for it, but don't know the best way to go as i only have VB experience.
