I've been asked to help celebrate our Church's current priest 10 year Anniversary, the event will be in September-2016 so got time.

Initially I was going simple:
  1. Establish a dropbox for pictures; this way others can submit their images to central place
  2. Organize / categorize them by Year, type event etc
  3. We will have laptop/50" screen dedicated for the digital photo display area
  4. Simple slideshow, maybe get semi-creative and do some major events focused parts, some quick 10 years to today comparisons, etc

So, with the above as a baseline, is their some other approach to take?
  • Get 1-2 "keepers" printed for signing at the event?
I had this image come to mind.
Would be neat if there was some way I could use a picture of the church, and then have parts of the church, say the stained glass windows, be the portal view for images to change for a display ....

Has anyone seen a method that can do that?

Hi are you looking for an interactive display? That users click about on? Or are you looking for something do just cycle on a loop?

The easiest way is a "cycle on a loop" of photos, tried and true method.

I'm just reaching out there for possible a more enhanced/other method of displaying photos that make them more interesting to see...Realizing this is a one time event, volunteer, etc.

So limited time/bandwidth.

I suppose easiest would be light room in slideshow mode plugged into a TV?

You could use Keynote. This would give you a lot of flexibility.

You can have it run automatically in a loop.

You can run it manually if you want to go through one time while narrating it.

You could put in all sorts of frames and cutouts, and put multiple pictures on one frame, if you have time.

You could put in a fixed time per slide and export it as a video.

You could add a narration.

You could put in a sound track, but I'd personally prefer to just have some music quietly playing in iTunes.

You can add some nice transitions, I would mostly go for a simple dissolve. You could, use something fancier to break up chapters.

You can easily add text overlays which might be nice to identify other people in the photos, the locations or the year of the photos.

You can keep this on iCloud for safety and easier access.

You can share read only links so others can see this on their browsers but not edit it. Apple claims this on their web site but I haven't tried this feature.

Maybe there are other benefits, this is what quickly comes to mind.

Help me, see below

Ok;
I'm nearly "done" here,
  1. used Google drive to gather the images among 25+ parishioners, simple a folder for each calendar year 2006-1016
  2. made an Aperture library for this activity, to separate it from my persona stuff
  3. Downloaded each google folder to desktop, import into Aperture. Do for each calendar year folder
  4. Over 900 images and 40 video clips submitted by many people, including me for 50%
  5. in iMovie simply organized each image to be 1.8 seconds ken burns, overlaid background audio
  6. The video clips of course their audio

but here is my issue.

>>Trying to put this on a USB 4GB stick, the HDTV's at church, two 2014 Vizio and LG each, won't read the file :(
I can save as .mov and .mp4 , have Quicktime 7 Pro from the old days, nothing works.

The USB stick, and both files, are readable on my Mac and Windows PC no problem.

My backup is use our MacBook Retina Pro and drive 1 of the HDTV's, but the other one on different area won't then display.

The celebration is tomorrow .. what am I doing wrong??
