I see this game is still being sold by the Mac App Store and other places.

How does that work as it has been dropped by the publishers and has been removed from sale by steam. I always thought this game was enslaved into steam and without an account you cannot neither install or play the game.

I assume the version on the Mac App store is NOT the complete game ? And that it does not require a steam account ? No mention of steam there.

Found it here also - https://www.gameagent.com/games/metro-last-light-complete-edition

Under requirements no mention of steam there either.

Can anybody throw any light on this because I would love a steam free version of this game.

I've played and finished the MAS version of M:LL by the time it was released. It's one of the best ported titles on Mac and plays great from beginning to end. Of course it has no dependencies with steam (AFAIK, no MAS game has).

Although not following exactly the book story, it faithfully represents the world environment exactly as it is described in the books. A must have.

Thanks for that :)

Also noticed the DLC is there

Nothing on the Mac App Store would require Steam. They do not sell Steam keys, only downloadable and installable apps, games, etc.

Thanks, yes I learn't that today, never really purchased any big titles from there, seems I will be in the future :)
