Hello everyone. I have an issue connecting my HDMI port to my MB Pro 14. As you see on the video, there are few sparks occur during the contact. I don't know if it harmful for my MacBook. But here is the list I have tried so far.

Checked grounding system of my home. there is nothing wrong.
Tried to connect my MacBook and external monitor in another house. Same problem continues.
Sent my External Monitor to the service, tried to use another computers to connect to it. It works fine.
Changed the HDMI cable. Still have the problem.
Tried to connect different external monitor to my MacBook Pro. And yeah, problem gone.
After all, I really confused. Guess I keep using my system without doing anything. Hope it will be fine in the future as well :/

(the sound comes from my external speakers)

Yep, I have this. I was worried about it at first, but I now use a Hub which has HDMI. Im sure ive also seen it with the USB C ports as well.
Interested to find out if this is normal.

Most low power electronic devices are double insulated which can be identified by the presence of 'box inside a box' logo on them. This means that the device may not be grounded. Since devices are not grounded, charge starts accumulating on the devices and when they come in contact with other devices, you see a spark.
This charge accumulating is usually due to leakage inside the high voltage circuitry. As devices age, build-up of dust/moisture between high voltage and chassis enables path for voltage to go to chassis. Ultimately it is not a big issue but it is a sign of failing insulation.

Interesting. I have the same problem on my mid-2015 MBP 13". I noticed a slight tingling on my finger one day as I plugged the HDMI in. I have found that it only sparks if the laptop is plugged into the charger. No charger, no spark. Strange.
