My five year old iMac is taking too long to restart and goes to a black screen during the process. I think I need to replace it before it refuses to boot.

Since no new iMac was announced I may get a Mac Mini. What is a good 21 to 25 inch screen to get with the new Mini? I assume I could use my current wired trackball and/or trackpad and my current wireless keyboard with it?

Or would it be less convenient or pleasant than the friendly iMac?

Should I try to keep it going till next year when new iMacs should be announced?

It looks like the specs make the new Mini at least as good as the iMac. All thoughts welcomed!

You can use your existing IMAC as a monitor if you have a 2013 or earlier iMac

I read about that after reading your response. You can do it in Target display mode, So it involves the processor of the iMac as well as the screen and if the iMac is failing that may not be a great plan. But it is interesting. Thanks for responding.
