I can't seem to get the Mic or iSight on my iMac to work with a lot of things. It's not that the hardware doesn't work... because I can use them in iChat, Skype, iMovie, Keynote, Photobooth, Snapz Pro X, and GarageBand just fine. It's other things where they don't seem to work...

Quake 4
Team Fortress 2 (when I use Windows XP via Boot Camp.)
Userplane web chats (http://www.userplane.com/)

Has anyone managed to make their built in mic and isight work with any of those?

I don't understand much about how they work... but I suspect it might be that the mic and iSight are normally off. The programs that work have scripts to turn them on when they start up and turn them back off when they quit. But I'm not really sure. If my suspicion is correct... then can someone please tell me of a way to force them to turn on? Maybe there's a dockling background program that can do it... or a command I can give via terminal to force them on/off...

Come on, isn't anyone else having issues with their built in mic/isight not working/being seen by some other programs or in boot camp?

I also had the same problem. Everything worked fine in OSX but when I was running Vista via Bootcamp, the iSight worked but no mic. Then after an Apple Update in Vista, everything worked fine. I play TF2 everyday with the mic working perfectly. I would suggest making sure you are completely up to date with all the Bootcamp drivers.

It is definitely possible to get it all working, just not enough of a tech guy to know how. Sorry!

Hmmm...

but I play the Mac version of Quake 4 and it doesn't seem to work...

I guess I'll just have to keep tweaking the settings or something...
