Anyway to amplify the mic a little or a lot ?

It is for a stroke patient/survivor that does not talk very loudly.

Sadly apple does not provide any way to adjust the mic volume, I suggest trying a USB-C mic or Bluetooth (airpods) to see if that makes a difference. Remember apple use fancy chips and algorithms to set the mic volume, so in the end you may just have to speak a bit louder.
