Just switched to a M4 Pro 14“ MBP from my trusty M1 13“. I was used to protect the screen with a microfiber cloth on the keyboard when the lid was closed. Worked excellent on the old design. Question is: Do I need this on the current MBPs also? I hate these ruined screen coatings you see on so many MBPs. What do you do to protect your screen from this? Thx for your expertise.

I had one of those Radtech keyboard cloths for my last MBPro. It was perfectly cut to fit the MBP model and worked well. Unfortunately, they don't (currently) have a cloth specifically for the M4 MBPro 16" - but if they did, I would buy one. I'm not sure how much the indentation depth and dimensions have changed from the M2 to the M4 MBP, so I don't want the hassle of buying it and returning it if it doesn't fit properly.

The tolerance in between the keyboard and screen is vanishingly small (otherwise there wouldn't be keyboard marks in the first place). I would not use anything thicker than the white screen protector sheet the MacBook shipped with, myself.

My MacBook Air has some key marks on the screen, as have several (if not all) of my previous MacBooks. I notice every once in a while when the machine is off, but as soon as the backlight is on at all I have to look pretty hard to notice them at all.

Can anyone speak to how the nanotexture screens hold up? I would think keyboard marks would blend in more, but I'm curious to hear about it.

Very interesting! And is the nano more prone to keyboard marks and scratches than the ones with the glossy screen? Nano owners help us out please
