How do you input sound through a professional microphone that is plugged into the Audio line-in port on a PowerMac and output that sound directly through speakers that are plugged into the Audio line-out port? I tried the Audio MIDI Setup and it looks like selecting "PlayThru" on the channels listed under the Input Section should activate the input channel, but I can't because the software claims that it is "Not-applicable for channel 1" and "Not-applicable for channel 2". I selected "Play Through" for the "Built-in audio controller", but attempting to move the Input Volume slider from "n/a dB" causes the software to display a message claiming that it is "Disabled because the device does not have a master volume".

According to Apple, this is not supported. Maybe I should get a Sound Blaster card.
