Can I use a microphone using the line-in jack or it won't work? Do I have to use a usb microphone ?

You can use a microphone via the Line-In, preferably a self-powered one.

I am trying to use a microphone not powered and it's not working, I guess line-in doesn't power the microphone at all.

Yep, Line-In is not powered. I guess you could use some kind of amplifier to loop the microphone's signal through, or speak very very loudly into the microphone.

If you have or can find a standard pair of iPhone earbuds, the embedded mic will work if you plug it into the headphone port.
