Curious if anyone else has had this issue.

Since updating to 11.0.2, I am unable to use the microphone on my 8plus for voice dictation for text messages, email, maps, or even Siri. The mic works fine for voice memos and video. I can use voice dictation when I'm using headphones or am connected via bluetooth to my car, wireless headphones or wireless speakers.

Spent a couple of hours with customer support who couldn't come up with anything. They had me turn various things on and off. One idiot had me try to turn on the voice over in order to have the phone speak to me. He had NO idea what voice dictation was and thought I was trying to set up Accessibility features.

I've even reset my phone to factory settings and set it up again to no avail. I have an appointment at the Genius Bar on Monday, but I'm wondering if anyone here has any ideas. And yes, the microphone is free of debris and obstructions. I figured that would have been evident to the CS since I was doing voice memos and videos. Sigh.

Thanks folks.

Josh

Ended up being a hardware issue.

I took it in yesterday for help at the Apple Store. The tech ran an audio diagnostic and determined there was an issue. He said they would replace the screen and went to the back for paperwork. After about 10 minutes he returned. He said they hadn't received replacement screens for the 8+ yet, so he gave me a new phone instead. Good to go!
