Unless MS is secretly working on a new code base, they are dead.
"Blackcomb", originally scheduled for release in 2003 (then moved to 2005 with "Longhorn"/Vista in the interim), is based on an entirely new code base.
Do you know - I was on a website for my uni (in vista) trying to download the lecture notes for the day and it uses a built in PowerPoint type plug in. Now, bear in mind it just opens on my mac - in vista?
Not only did I have to install Active X control (Whatever that is) I had no less that 17 prompts to "continue" and 17 "Are you sure you can trust this source" blah blah.
You think I'm exaggerating. I'm not. It was probably MORE. You wait.
Vista is hell on a stick to do the most simple things. You want to open control panel? Woah! Warning! Nightmare
Well, they missed putting in the most important warning...
When you turn the machine on it should say
"Do ya' really wanna' do this to yourself?"

All right. I now know the release date for OS X 10.5 'leapord'
January 30, 2007, 10 minutes after Vista hits the shelves.
I have a spare computer to install it on, so I'll probably take it for a spin sometime next week (it's supposed to be on MSDN by then). If the betas are any indication, then I'm not expecting to be impressed
Five years, and they still use the registry. My prediction: This is the end for Microsoft. After WGA screws up legitimate consumers, people will be fed up enough to switch to Mac. Unless MS is secretly working on a new code base, they are dead.
I dont know.....
Every-time you do something it puts that annoying box on the screen asking for your password to continue... They got that idea from OS X, but the enhancement is that it dims the screen so you cant see what you are doing.
I have the Vista backgrounds on my Mac

"Vista boasts improved graphics, more effective tools for finding documents, pictures and other items on personal computers, and a new Internet browser, among other changes."
Wow. It sounds amazing!
OOOOO I have an MSDN license too, does this mean that come November the 30th a full non time limted verion will be available to MSDN subscribers?
