Holy...

You just made me spit up my Diet Pepsi all over the trackpad.

I guess Microsoft couldn't find a sexier machine to run it on. ;)

Thing is. MS has nothing to lose by doing this.

For some odd reason, I have a bad feeling about all this.

Why not? The only ones who stand to lose are the Wintel OEMs.... MS should make more profit per copy on the retail editions of their OSes and software that Mac users are buying than the OEM versions they sell Dell et al. And psssh... it may be more expensive, but everyone knows who makes the nicest Intel-chip based computers. :D

But yes, I have a slightly bad feeling about it too. And so it begins....

This was the day microsoft has been waiting for...being able to run their os on the best hardware available. Remember apple is the hardware...mac's the OS...

If Vista cracks up, they'll blame the MacBook Pro, that's why.:D
Well, MS and Apple don't hate eachother, they're kind and make compatilble software/hardware for eachother. Microsoft makes the Office Suite+WMP+MSN, and just made that new Mac keyboard. Apple makes iPod Windows compatible, including iTunes, QT, and Apple don't sue MS for Vista being an ugly copy of Tiger.

Well, this doesn't surprise me, both companies benefit from it.;)

And this is why Apple *is* a hardware company, i buy Macs for OS X and hardware but if Macs run Windows as good as any PC, why not use them? And when showing of an OS, you want a good looking computer to go with it.

About what?

The Diet Pepsi or the MBP-lovin'?

It's Diet Pepsi... there's no sugar in it, so it'll be fine I'm sure. :p

Very interesting, glad to see that M$ recognizes who makes the best computers out there- Apple. :)

Don't forget, lads and lasses, that Microsoft makes relativlely little money on the OEM versions of Windows that are bundled with Wintel machines.

When a Mac user installs Windows, that is a Retail version of Windows (not bundled, not upgrade, not discounted), plus the application software sale, and Microsoft automatically makes 2 - 3 times the profit.

Unless you buy your copy of windows from a place like Newegg.com which sells OEM copies of Windows.

OEM copies aren't supported, I suspect that most people go for retail copies.

not like that MBP has anything functional in it that is actually made by apple.
so I dont really see the difference between the MBP and the next CoreDuo with same spec....

This is wonderful. Soon it'll be "Microsoft recommends genuine Apple hardware for Windows Vista"!!

Why not? Everyone knows Apple make better computers (and of course software:D ) than Dell, HP, Fujitsu Siemens, Sony, LG, Acer and so on. MacBook Pro for example is fully compatible with all Vista graphic userinterface features.

I for one havent heard anything about bulging batteries, ultra-heat, wierd animal noises, discoloration and a soaring pricetag to boot from any of the comanies you listed. Im not saying they are the best, or better, im just wanting you to reevaluate your statement.
You do realize that some of the manufactures you listed are/will offer SLI GPUs right?
My Powermac G5 is built like a tank. But the G5 is so innefficient that 60% of the huge ass case is wind tunnel / heatsink. This leaves only 2 HDD bays and 1 5.25 Bay that is already populated. For a desktop which should emphasize upgradability, the Powermac G5 is an utter failure. Not to say that it isnt beatuiful and sturdy.
In a $2000+ system form should follow function.

Apple make the best hardware and Microsoft Windows is just software, not hardware. MS aren't stuck with PCs, so... why not

So.. Apple makes the best hardware.. that means if I walk into a PC chopshop right now, the next PC laptop I pick up will cost $10k, moos, whines, as an added bonus its LCD display will come with horizontal "guide lines" and instantly sears itself into my burnt hands?

The only thing good about Macs is only skin deep, everything else inside is just as crap as another PC. Get over the fanboism already.

Yea, it's funny really how the inferiority complex kicks in for windows users whenever a Mac is mentioned. They always come out defensively kicking and screaming and labeling us before we even open our mouths.

Well I guess by the time MS have Vista working we'll be running Intel chips that haven't even been heard of yet :p and of course the windows fanboys will think they have something better and newer.

It is understandable though, no one wants to look like a fool paying more for inferior hardware.

Keep to your delusions, I barely use my PC nowadays even. Anyway I fixed that comment for ya.

This comment shows exactly how deep your delusions run, need to see a psychiatrist?

Not to be a fanboy, it's just I'm sure those companies have the same hardware problems too.

It's just none of their customers whine about it on websites. ;)

Just remember that all of these problems are very rare and are affected by <1% of customers, it's just that Mac users have a forum to whine about their problems in, and people are more likely to note the negative than the positive.

No, it is a matter of getting what you paid for.

Except the same rarely happens for Mac hardware
