Microsoft Edge AutoUpdate Hanging in Installing Update

I decided to download Edge from the Beta channel. The first time I opened Edge, AutoUpdater opened and said there was an update, but it wouldn't update. I could run Edge, but it would hang when I quit and have to force quit each time. I was able to eventually just open AutoUpdater. It downloaded the update for Edge, but it has been sitting at installing with no progress. I understand it's a beta. Any ideas how to get the updater to finish installing?

Your best option is to uninstall it and not use it. JMHO - it's probably one of the worse browsers available.

It's actually a pretty great browser. And todays beta adds native M1 support.

I thought the beta I downloaded on the 15th was Silicon.

I deleted the beta and installed the dev version. I still had the problem with AutoUpdater, but I realized it was not able to update itself. I found a newer version of the AutoUpdater and everything is working find now.

I've used the Chromium based Beta since it launched on my Windows machines.
Very responsive and IMO an excellent additional browser to have.

For M1 based machines I'll wait till they release the M1 optimised regular version in a couple of weeks to start with, precisely in the hope that the primary issues have been solved by then.

In my case Edge is used for work (you can login with you Sharepoint office 365 credentials), safari for personal stuff.
