I have installed MS Office and constantly, daily, the app called Microsoft Error Reporting keeps bugging me as it always opens. Is there a way to deactivate it so that it doesn't turn on every now and then?

If that's on a Mac and not on Windows and there's no preference to just toggle it off then I'd first start looking for a background service via launchctl and stop and deactivate it. If none exists or that step alone doesn't do the trick then I'd poke around the application folder/package to see if that thing has it's own binary that's just itching to be renamed or moved away. If it lives in its own folder, all the better: clear it out and write protect the folder itself.

In the event that Office is one of these apps receiving updates all the time then create zero byte dummy files as replacements for the ones you removed and write protect them with admin rights. That should keep any updater from being able to undo your work.

So far I have managed to shut down most of these kinds of annoyances this way. Some are really persistent with multiple hooks letting them rise from the grave again and again until you're employing scorched earth tactics. ?

Always backup the folders/files you are about to tamper with beforehand though. Good hunting!
