This morning Microsoft took over 23 domains from no-ip.org
Becuase of this, and the way they handled it, 4 million legitimate users of no-ip.org have been effected, including myself - a mac user, and unaffected by the two botnets MS are trying to break.
I agree with no-ip's comments about MS draconian way in dealing with this and at the moment there is no end in sight for them to get this resolved.

There is some news articles about this:

http://arstechnica.com/security/201...-suffer-after-microsoft-seizes-no-ip-domains/

No-IPs Statement:

To be fair to Microsoft, they claim their move is protecting Windows users, which it probably well is doing. I doubt Microsoft could give any cares for Mac users.

True, but a lot of people use no-ip for legitimate reasons, regardless of what operating system they use.
I personally think Microsoft have been rather totalitarian - take and block the domains, let the people sort themselves out.

And if they had done nothing, we'd likely be hearing from you how they don't care about Botnets or their users. :\

The closer botnets can be destroyed to the source the better. They are warts on the internet. Innocents are just collateral damage you suppose :)

It's a sad thing that they got hurt by this, but Microsoft had to do something.

I was wondering why I couldn't connect to my home VPN. I guess I know now, my dynamic DNS has been taken over by MS.

Thanks for screwing up everything, I really appreciate it Microsoft!!:mad:
