I got a SideWinder X8 that I am trying out on the mac and it seems to work perfectly, until I try to use the features that it is designed to do: macros.

In System Preferences->Microsoft Intellipoint I modified the global settings for button mapping, they work perfectly, I have set some buttons to launch specific applications and they work.

However if I try to add new specific applications, and specific button mappings for them they do not work at all. For example in starcraft I tried to set button 4 and 5 (back/forward click buttons) to CTRL+1 and CTRL +2 respectively, they do nothing...

Anyone know whats wrong? Probably something simple, yet probably something not.

If anyone is curious, I'm running Intellipoint Pro 7.01

Thanks

It seems that global settings are the only ones that work... anyone here ever used intellipoint software on a microsoft mouse? I'm wondering if its the case that version 6.2 is less bug prone than this version 7.01 is.

Any other proprietary software out there that can do the job that intellipoint does?

Thanks
