microsoft money update?

My trial of Microsoft Money Plus that I am using through Parallels expires at the beginning of July. On Wikipedia, it says that the current version was released in August 2007. It seems as though this software is updated every year, but it doesn't indicate that it is necessarily updated each summer. I'd hate to buy the activation key and then a new version come out a month later.

Does anyone have any ideas on when a new version on Microsoft Money will be released?

A new version is generally released prior to the current year's tax season. You can usually find a free give away copy (by coupon) included in the box when you purchase Intuit's Turbo Tax or the bundled version with Quicken.

Expect Money 2008 Standard and Deluxe to come out at the end of this Summer or mid Fall. But that's a big "maybe" knowing how the Evil Empire at Redmond does things.

Running Parallels seems like a lot of overhead just for Microsoft Office. I would recommend looking at running a native application before plucking down the dollars for a Microsoft product.

There is not a Mac version of MS Money.

Quicken for Mac $70 and apparently "not as good as the PC version" based on all the Amazon reviews, I didn't care to much for MoneyDance, iBank or Quicken Online. I can get MS MoneyPlus from Amazon for $35. I was also using MS Money when before I converted to Mac. It isn't THAT big of a deal if there is an upgrade, since I only really use it as a 2nd check register. I really don't use any other features, but I do like to have the latest stuff.

Speed wise, MS Money is working fine for me through Parallels.

other choices

mac users have choices that are far more straightforward than using ms money in a windows boot, or way better than suffering through quicken.

several good personal finance apps are written for OS X, will import quicken data (and other formats), offer superior interfaces and features, and can be tried out for free.

i recommend iBank, but maybe that's because i work for the developer.

there are others - find one that works for you. just don't bemoan quicken and money, you DO have other choices.
