Completely disappointing from Microsoft. But that is nothing new...
. . .
and a couple orders of magnitude more responsive than that demo, even though the iPhone hardware itself is many orders of magnitude below that of a laptop.
I think it's quite exciting to see Microsoft actually trying to innovate even if it is by acquisitions (M$'s specialty), but at least the industry is moving in a great direction. I also think comparing the iPhone and this is pointless, since
1. both are not currently available to consumers (at least for a few more days!)
2. this is not Microsoft's final product, it's going to improve (gasp!)
so its not an A-A comparison.
Innovation drives the industry, all the innovation of the past few years has been, well quite boring (at least to my non-tech savy friends), but this , Seadragon and Photosynth (even though acquired) are exciting new technologies that have not gotten as much attention as our almight iPhone. We must be honest with ourselves about M$ and Apple, both do benefit from one another, competition drives innovation, innovation the industry.
But this laptop is honestly, quite lame. Soon Microsoft and Apple will both emerge from their RD departments with a MT that is not boring/lame, and it will be innovative. Sadly whoever releases first will dub the other "copying" but it isn't.
As a side note Northrop Grumman fanboys can say Microsoft is copying them b/c a similar technology is being developed (and has been for the last 2 years) by them for specifically for the military. btw, i've never heard anyone call themselves a NG fanboy.
