Anyone know when it is shipping? Some shops say "mid-july" - has anyone pre-ordered it and got an email saying estimated ship date?

I really want VPC for my G5
Thanks

Duff-Man says...the latest rumour says it is delayed until september (at least)....oh yeah!

Where did you hear this? I heard late July, early August from MacConnection when I put in my pre-order for VPC7.

Duff-Man says....I don't recall which site a read that at...it was a couple weeks ago - might have been at insanelygreat. Even M$ said it would be "second half of 2004" which in my mind does not mean a july release is very likely....oh yeah!

been looking around and apparantly Microsoft have said they are releasing VPC7 along with Windows XP Service Pack 2, which was meant to be out in May, then July, then January 2005 but two weeks ago MS have said that it DEFO will be out in August (SP2). Therefore, I'm guessing so will VPC7

According to the MSFT site, they were originally planning on a first half release but they adjusted their timeframe to "meet a more realistic quota." (I'm not sure that's a direct quote, but it's similar :p) Therefore, I get the impression that they just needed a little more time to make things perfect - not a half a year to finish.

That's very typical of Microsoft - in fact, it reminds me of the constant delays of the Longhorn release. I don't use MS Office for Mac or VPC, but I can understand the reasons those that need them need them. I was looking forward to finding out benchmarks for VPC7 - looks like I'll have to wait until September.

I just received Microsoft 2004 Standard Version CD today. It contains Entourage, Word, Excel, & Power Point.

Looks to be October

An e-mail sent to MacMinute by Microsoft notes that: "As you may know, Virtual PC 7 ships with Windows XP both in a box by itself as well as in the Office 2004 for Mac Professional Edition. We are waiting for the release of Windows XP SP2 in order to offer the most recent, most secure version of Windows XP to our Virtual PC for Mac customers."
