Thanks for the heads up! My MS auto updater always crashes (surprise surprise) so I would have missed this if it weren't for you.

Thanks for the info. I've been unable to receive mail to my .mac mail in Entourage for some reason. I can send, but can't receive. Just happened today. I'll see if the update does anything to help this.

I redownloaded and reinstalled and restarted and everything is pretty much ok now??? Strange. BUT, I still can't get Entourage to take in my e-mail. I get that darn Authentication message. Maybe this is Jobs way of saying "Use Mail."<g>

Hey everyone and thanks original poster for this info i surely would not have found it. Any idea what this fixes?

Also does anyone use the compatiability feature and find about 3.5 million conflicts between PC-Mac and different versions? I get so many "Possibly Conflicts" that I ignore it althogether, this scares the hell out of me though when i do PowerPoint Pres on PC's in class without testing first!

MS Framework Library??

I get this message at start up what is this??

From the Microsoft website:

This service pack provides expanded support for Microsoft Exchange Server accounts, performance improvements, security enhancements, and increased stability for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Entourage for Office 2004. This service pack also includes all of the improvements released in Office 2004 Service Pack 1 (11.1.0), Office 2004 11.1.1 Security Update, and international proofing tools updates.

Microsoft strongly recommends that system administrators apply this service pack before deploying Entourage 2004 within an organization. This service pack fixes many Entourage issues, including improved support for Microsoft Exchange Server accounts and migration issues from Entourage X.

Fixed it

I had to remove the Daemon from the startup menu. Then restarted. That fixed it.

Hopefully, Word and Error Reporting will no longer stop responding every other time I use Word. It's kind of ironic that the error reporting feature in office freezes along with the app that freezes.

Where exactly would I find this??

Accounts control panel, Login Items pane. Delete the Daemon there, then restart your Mac.

I'm a bit lost here. Are you talking about Accounts in Office, OSX, ??? I'm not exactly sure where I'm looking.

Thanks.

Open up system pref. go to accounts and in the login item pane delete the MS Database Daemon. Then restart. This helped me but it may not help you...

>>MS Database Daemon<<

Aren't "Daemons" universally bad?? Like crossing the streams??<g>
Shouldn't they be removed, or not necessarily?? What does it actually do. I just checked and I have 2 files with that name in my Start up.

>>Time to switch to Mail full-time soon me thinks.<<

I find it ironic that the only problem I've ever had with my Mac is from a Microsoft program and their update.

Indeed.

Nice to see they've fixed the "type now wait ten minutes for text" problem with Word. Still doesn't make up for every email returned from clients saying "Can't open this, jpg's corrupted" etc from Entourage.

For the life of me, I've tried to use Apple's Pages, but I find it difficult to learn. Is it just me, or is it awkward?? Of course, I've been using Word since it first came out. I think it was for Apple too?????

I can never open .jpg's from Entourage. I always have to open Mail and open them from there.

My big Apple wish would be to put an Office-type program together that integrates the calendar, etc with everything. Guess they're a bit busy with the Intel stuff and nano-nano. <g>

You mean an Outlook type program.
Hmm.. not for me. I prefer my mail app and calendar app to be seperate. But I would love to see iCal being able to connect to an "iCal Server", and being able to read / write in other's calendars etc. A bit like meetingmaker etc.

The update worked fine for me. However, it still won't sync with the Entourage server (I am a lone mac in a pc corporate environment) and thus I can't see the shared calendars, public folders, or company address book.

Anyone know how I can remedy this? Or have had the same problem?
