I’ve managed to get a second hand copy of Office 2011 for Mac to run under OS 10.9 Mavericks.
I had trouble getting it to work as it kept crashing but following some online advice I managed to change something in Terminal and it now works. The next problem is that I can’t register the software, no doubt because it’s trying to get to a web address discontinued by Microsoft many years ago. It looks like I’ve only got 15 days before it stops working? Anyone got any ideas to get round this? I doubt Microsoft are going to be very sympathetic about second hand long discontinued software.
It’s also advised to update Office to 14.7.7 but I can’t see anyone having the update?

I’ve managed to get that update but it won’t work with 14.0.0. Currently trying to download update 14.1.0

Edit: Update 14.1.0 and 14.7.7 now applied.

After quitting word I get a crash log saying it’s unexpectedly quit. Any ideas?

After running Office 2011 for over a decade, I do believe Microsoft is telling us PAY UP, and even demands the subscription model, no forever licensing. I've been using LibreOffice for over a year now, no issues.

Anyone using ONLYOFFICE? Seems to look very similar to Microsoft Office. Can't speak to its capabilities or compatibility yet.
