How is the use of a SmartCover an indicator that it is an iPad 2? The SmartCover works just fine on my iPad 4. Besides, IF you are correct and they're using iPad 2, how does that change what the ad is attempting to demonstrate?

Maybe because it's the truth?

The Lenovo is a laptop! If you need a portable tablet, the iPad is fine. I graduated college many years ago, but even then people used cassette recorders for lectures. Hands free notes.

Don't see what's ridiculous about it. It shows that Windows 8 tablets have better multitasking capabilities than the iPad. Which it does. It gets the message across fine.

Ridiculous or not, I doubt its going to make much difference in the sales of either device. If Microsoft wants to subsidize the US industrial/entertainment complex by wasting its money, so what? But if they think they are going to fool kids into believing attractive young women show off their tech chops with a Windows 8 powered whatever, while her dorky classmates fumble with their iDevices, then they are fooling only themselves.

The bigger question is this: Are the childrens being edjumacated by toting their tablets, laptops and smartphones into class with them?

To which I'd say: Not really. If you want to really learn something about the world in general, and poetry in particular, then spend an hour or two reading W.B. Yeats The Second Coming in a book. Preferably a dog-eared paperback you bought for 50 cents at the campus used book store. Try reading it without Googling what Spiritus Mundi means (hint, try figuring it out from the context...)

But somehow I doubt it. These rough beasts, slouching towards Bethlehem, will mainly be thinking about the availability of free wi-fi and looking for a power outlet.

This isn't ridiculous, it is the truth. Windows 8 has superior multi-tasking capabilities that the iPad and iOS cannot come near to touching.
