I've searched online but can't find any reference to this. I have a document open in MS Word (iOS 12) and then switch to another app (so Word is in the background). When I switch back to Word, Word takes a few seconds to reload the document. I'm pretty sure the document has closed and reopened.

This wouldn't be so bad, other than it takes a few seconds every time, but Word also loses the zoom level I had set and the cursor goes back to the beginning of the document -- all of this takes 10 to 15 seconds to get through before I can get back to typing.

Is there any way to stop this behavior? So that the document stays open even while Word is in the background?

Thanks for the help!

Wild stab, is Background Refresh off? If so, maybe with it on will keep things alive.

Thanks for the idea. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether Background Refresh is on or off. It behaves the same in both modes.
