No.

Not unless you run VirtualPC on your Mac which wouldn't be that great and costs almost as much as MS Office for Mac.

Are you a student? There are some substantial savings for edu copies of Word to be made.

MS Word for Mac can open *DOCUMENTS* from MS Word for Windows. Yes, they're very inter-compatible. I trade documents in the hospital between Windows and Mac all the time. :)

If you cannot afford MS Office for Mac, then you can...

1) Get NeoOffice/J.

2) The iBook will also come pre-installed with a suite called AppleWorks that has is somewhat limited, but handles lots of basic Word-like functions. So you can try that.

3) It should also have a trial version of an Apple product called Pages. It's part of a two piece suite called iWork. iWork is available to students for about $50, I think. So you can try that and see if you like it. It's able to generate some really neat documents via templates, and also has limited MS Word compatibility.

Helps?

Hope you love your iBook! :D

NeoOffice (mentioned earlier in this thread) and OpenOffice.org both have PowerPoint and Excel replacements. However, if you've got the money, I recommend Microsoft Office for Mac. That way, you won't just have Word, Excel and PowerPoint replacements, you'll actually have Word, PowerPoint and Excel. I don't like Microsoft (afterall, I use a Mac), but Office is actually quite good, and IMO Office:Mac is better than Windows Office.

Well put.

Plus, having the real Office removes the issues of incompatabilities that you get with Open Office and others.

Calibrate your battery: Charge it full then use it till it dies the first time then recharge it and use it how you like.
When you turn it on you be prompted to setup your account name and register etc...
