...

This is a spoof made by Microsoft and it is not real.
This is at least the second such spoof from the boys in Redmond. The first was a spoof of the iPod's packaging as it would have been done by Microsoft. The message in both spoofs is that Microsoft does not have a clue. Nobody seems to understand this better than its employees.

Instead of spending time and money on unfunny/crap spoofs maybe they should concentrate on trying to keep the hoards of switchers with Windows and or make a decent product of their own.

So hows the Zune doing again?

Oh...

I think it is hilarious that MS tries to make fun of Apple (this and the iPod packaging). Whenever their product comes out (Zune), it seems funnier and less of a threat than the spoofs they put out.

I think it's pretty funny, though the iPod one is better.

I like that MS can make fun of themselves. Apple should do it more as it's a good thing to be able to do!

If I recall correctly, Microsoft had a serious purpose in producing the iPod packaging video. It was apparently produced to try to nudge their designers into better industrial design and the video escaped into the wild.

I thought this was pretty funny and it seems to me this has a similar purpose.

Agreed. However, I believe there is more to it than that. Whether or not you like its products or corporate behavior, there is no question that a lot of very smart talented people work for Microsoft. Smart talented people want to produce quality products. There is a distinct undertone of frustration in both videos. The thesis of the iPod packaging video is that Microsoft is helpless against its inclination to add ever more crap to its packaging. The thesis of the OPhone video is that Microsoft is helpless against its inclination to copycat Apple and to make things overly complicated. It is almost enough to make you feel sorry for the people who work for Microsoft ... almost.
