Mid 2006 iMac G5 won't turn on

When I turn on my iMac I here the fan spin up and the OSX sound, however the screen is a purplish black and the fan seems really slow. I thought it might be my RAM so I removed it and put it back in, but the problem persisted.

I decided to open it up to see whats wrong, but this version is very tough to open up, because the back panel doesn't come off. I found out to open it up I would have to go through the front.

So I'm wondering what my problem is. I'm currently thinking that it's the video card, but I'm not sure.

This model iMac has an integrated video card, so if the card has gone bust, you'd need a replacement logic board. The only steps I can think to try would be to try running the Apple Hardware Test on the first install DVD or to connect an external monitor to see if there's any video output.

Do you have any idea to what it could be?

And are there any guides to opening it up. I found one but it had limited instructions.

All I can offer at this point would be unfounded conclusions. You can find more detailed take-apart instructions via ifixit.com. The computer's out of warranty so you won't be risking voiding the warranty if you choose to open it up yourself, but you might make things worse by poking around where only techs should.

Ive had some experience opening up computers, but the fact that its an iMac and very crammed is what has me worried. Along with the fact that I'd have to move the screen.
