Mid 2007 MacBooks - how much total RAM can be put in it?

On the "Mactracker" application it says for the Mid-2007 MacBook -

"Maximum RAM: 3.0 GB (Actual) 2.0 GB (Apple)"

What does that mean??

It means that you can put a 2bg stick and a 1gb stick into it, and it will be able to see and use all 3gb of ram, but this is the most it can see.

And that Apple says it can only support 2gb. This is because you have to have identical sticks to run the memory in dual-channel mode, and Apple likes dual-channel.

Basicly it means that if you need (or just want) to put more than 2gb of ram in your older macbook, you can, up to 3gb.

If you mean the new MB's just released by Apple .. MB's can take 4GBs of Ram (2x2GBs)

Sorry I mean the MacBooks released before the new ones (Mid 2007, not Late 2007).

Anorion gave the correct answer. OP asked about mid-2007 MB, not late-2007 MB.
