Mid 2009 mbp vs 2011 mba?

Hello everyone! So like many others, I kind of want to switch to the MBA after seeing the new specs and such. I was wondering though if it would be a good idea good idea to trade though. I have the mid 2009 2.66 core2duo with the 9600m graphics, and I wanted to get a new 13 inch mba with the 1.8 i7 processor. Do you think the mba will offer better performance? Also, what about photoshop, youtube etc on the new mba? I remember the 2nd generation ones were very choppy and laggy, so do you think I'll be fine? Is the mbp superior to the air in this case? Dont know if this will help you decide but I've being using the MBA 13 128GB for about 2 hours now and find that it performs better with aperture than my early 2008 macbook pro. A very nice surprise.

Loading apps, MBA will be very quick if they are installed locally.

i doubt it will hold up against your MBP on GPU performance but it could fare better in CPU tasks.

a review of the 11" got 22fps in native res on WOW which is not good but to be expected.

i have a 2010 i7 MBP but i never use the GPU that i have so for me i doubt id notice.

id probably miss the 8 hour battery more but the weight and size saving would be much better.

I never really found use for the longer battery life because I'm usually near an outlet or plugged in. So for photoshop (not a lot of rendering, drawing + dodge/burn stuff, smudging etc.) and youtube, would I have a problem? Would anyone consider this a downgrade? I need the graphics especially for flight fsx (nothing major, casual gaming) and the sims 2/3. Opinions? I just don't want to see a downgrade in speed.

I just got the new 11" Ultimate to replace my 2009 15" MBP (see my sig). Only been using it for a few hours now, but so far so good.

My only heavy app was Aperture and it choked on my MBP (2009). I doubled the ram, put in a 7200 drive and it still chugged, but when I ran Aperture on a SandyBridge MBP 13". It absolutely flew. So I dumped my MBP and am going for a 13" MBA.

Wow, that's surprising. I mean I hope if I end up dumping the pro for the air that I don't lose out on the speed of it.

Also I like that my pro is dead silent and I never hear the fans regardless of anything I'm doing. I've never heard the fan once. Is it the same for these new airs? At least the i7 13"s?

My Air is quieter than my old Pro (mid 09). It's also hella-faster in most instances. The only time I notice my Air slowing down are GPU specific items, games and the like, but for EVERYTHING else, the Air rocks.
