mid 2010 iMac & Dell 24 as 2nd monitor...

I have searched - and just got more confused.

I want to hook my new mid 2010 27inch iMac to my old 24inch Dell monitor.
Which freaking cable do I need to buy? I know I need a

MINI DISPLAY PORT out of the iMac - but to DVI? Dual link? VGA? HELP.

The old (about 4+ years) Dell is 1920X1200 max if that helps.

What inputs does the monitor have? You will likely need a MiniDP to DVI (single-link) adapter
