I bought my mid 2010 used and have upgraded it since - CPU, memory, drives, etc. I added a BluRay from my previous Mac Pro.

Pretty early in, both drive doors started sticking. They are now at a point, where I have to push the little tabs engaging with the sleds to close them after use. The one next to the original Apple drive tends to trigger opening the sled again when I do that - the spacing is very tight.

I have taken the system apart multiple times trying to fix this. I loosened the screw holding the doors at the front (as was suggested elsewhere,) tried to bend metal etc. - all to no avail. The problem is caused by very small tolerance issues.

It also looks like the door assembly cannot be simply removed and adjusted, at least I could not find a way to get it out almost damaging the assembly in the process.

Does anybody have any idea, how to remove it without disassembling the case completely? That would not be worth it. Any other tips beyond what I have tried?

Very frustrating...

No clue, but I have this issue as well. For about the past 2 years or so if I use my optical drive the door is stuck open and I use an unbent paper clip to work it closed again. Would love to know if there's a fix for this.

Use some Jigaloo :p
It's supposed to fix everything... At least that's what they say on TV!

I just give mine a "love tap" on the top when they stick and it pops back up. I would assume its due to springs wearing out, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get into it to replace them.
