It has a full charge. The last time that it was up and running, it shut down randomly by itself. I went to boot it up and it gave a beep and shut itself off. Finally, I tried booting it again and there was a sad Mac face. After that it never came back on. It’s been sitting for a little over a month now and I wanted to try my hand at fixing it. I gave it a nice overnight charge and pressed the power button and nothing. It doesn’t even attempt to boot. No fans, nothing. I changed the battery back in December and everything worked fine until about February. I’ve changed the battery before without issue over the years. I’m thinking that maybe it’s the logic board but hoping that it’s not. Any suggestions?

The one way I tested mine to see why it wouldn't boot or load up was use the Power Pads on the Logic Board. In my case it was the power button which is part of the keyboard.

Check here for Power Pad locations. I just used a paper clip for the leads on the power pad.

If you can't fix this cheaply, it might not be worth the cost of an "expensive" repair...

Try this: disconnect the battery, connect the charger, don't touch the keyboard and see if the MacBook boots on its own. This can take up to 60 seconds to happen.

I just tried both methods and no luck...

It's hard to let go! I've had this laptop for nearly a decade! LOL!

Also, the MagSafe shows green both with and without the battery connected, if that matters at all.

That's too bad. I did replace logic board and heatsink on my MBP 15 mid 2009, and keyboard once I realized it was power button. I too had a green light on the charger with or without battery.
I found my parts on Ebay and wasn't too bad a price, and watched videos and help from Apple Dollars
