Hello
A few months ago I bought from a friend a 27 inch Mid-2011 iMac. This is my first ever Mac after decades of Windows.
I have been using it daily with no issues. I upgraded the OS to High Sierra which is the latest this model can have. It has 8GB ram and the original 1TB SATA hard drive.
Everything was fine... until today the screen suddenly went blue. Then it went grey. Now it won’t start at all.
When I turn it on, I get a grey screen with the apple logo. There’s a progress bar which stops around 75% and then the screen goes completely grey. It hangs for a minute or so, then resets and the same things happens.
I managed to get some photos which are attached. I also noticed some bleeding on the left edge of the screen which I haven’t seen before.
I’ve two questions if anyone can help....
1. Is this salvageable?
2. Is this a common occurrence on iMacs? I appreciate this machine is almost 10 years old, and I’ve enjoyed using it and would consider a new iMac now (or newer at least), but would think twice if these issues were common.
thanks!
