mid 2011 GPU upgrade for Catalina, which is the best today in 2020

I have a mid 2011 27" iMac with Radeon HD6770M GPU and I want to install Catalina. The warnings all over the web say the performance will be horrible with that GPU.

I really do need to upgrade the OS because there is software I want to run that does not play well with macOS 10.13 I don't want to replace this iMac until after all my 3rd party software runs on ARM

What is the best GPU to install today in 2020?

While the iMac is open I'm thinking about a CPU upgrade too. There is a 2.7GHz i5 in there now. But I doubt I'd see much gain just going to an i7. I do push this computer a little with 3D CAD work.
