So I've had this Mac Mini for 4 years and haven't really had a problem with it other than it being really slow for some reason.
I bought a new Denon x3100 Receiver to replace my Pioneer Elite receiver. When the Mac Mini is inserted, the screen flickers every couple of seconds. The flickering is black and artifacts also appear. Sometimes it will turn green and purple. Naturally I'm going to be asked about my HDMI Cords and whether the receiver is broken. The Receiver works with the same inputs and HDMI Cables with a PS4. I've also tried NUMEROUS HDMI Cables to no avail.
The peculiar thing is that the flickering is not persistent during the 30 second to 1 minute startup time, when the white screen comes up with the loading bar.
I'm going to take a guess that this is an issue with the Mac Mini and Denon both. The Denon is likely bad at hdmi input that is outside of a narrow view of what it thinks are errors while the Mac is sending an output that works on most devices but Denon's.
Anyone know anything about these EFI Firmware updates? If I update my Mac through the App Store Update thing (Where OS updates are and the like) should I already have the EFI Updates installed? I'm wondering if I'm missing one that might fix this issue.
If nothing works I'm going to have to return the Denon to Amazon. Since Marantz is the same company, I guess they might be out of the picture as well. I might have to try Yamaha and hope it works.
