Midi sequencer/synth app?

Back in PDA days I really enjoyed the Palm app called Griff. It was a pattern based midi sequencer with a few selectable synth sounds and effects. It was great to lay down a beat or melody while on the train. Anything like this in the works for the iPhone? Reason and Cakewalk and the like should be paying attention.

I would like to see an iPhone version of Ableton Live, but in the mean time, I've just downloaded Beatmaker from the App Store which is pretty cool and definitely more of a useful tool as opposed to a "toy" app.
 
Wow, awsome app. Thanks for the tip. Too bad it doesn't export to midi so you can continue a project on the Desktop.
 
I downloaded the beatmaker today and i'm kind of dissapointed you can't really make melodies. Unless I'm missing something, the best I can do is load up the pads with like 8 piano C notes, then change the semitones of each one to get a scale, but even then the notes sound way off and I can't get anything good sounding out of it.

There's no keyboard reference for sequencing quarter/half/etc notes? If not then the app has no business using the terms "song" or "melody" in the description.
 
Beatmaker is really sweet although it is only a sequencer/sampler.

Adding melodies to the app would make it a super functional tool.

It's not meant to make melodies, it's meant to make beats, hence the name "Beatmaker". It's basically a virtual MPC 2000 (if you guys are familiar with that instrument.)
 
I'm also waiting for some kind of cool MIDI sequencer with export options so whatever we work on we can transfer back to a computer and continue working on it.

Na, i'm not sure actually. It may only be for JB iPhones :/ so we still need a kaospad type solution. A continuous tone generating app based on multi touch would def. be cool
 
a Kaossilator style controller would be cool as hell.

a basic midi sequencer for working on melodies and basic chord stuff would be handy too. especially if it had a midi export function.

that controller app looks cool as hell.
 
Beatmaker seem responsive, maybe we could email them to ask to include some sort of melody module

It also says that you can import sounds from Noise.io synth app. I'm not sure how that works but you guys might be able to get your melody into beatmaker that way.
 
There is iMorseU in appstore can synthesize multi-Midi into melody in other way. there are pattern based midi sequencer with a few selectable synth sounds in it.
It can Mix Morse code which you typed into melody and "export to MIDI score" share with friends.

Exports work fine in Beatmaker. The replies above are from an older version prior to the export functions being active.

As for melodies, they can be done too.
In your pattern under the tab step editors is another called pitch.
It'll let you pitch your sample up or down by an octave (12 semitones)
If you need a greater range than this you can import your sample into a second pad and pitch it up or down 2 octaves there, this way you have it spead across 4 octaves in the sequencer.

What does BM export? Is it MIDI file or live MIDI sequence?

I must be missing something with noise.io. I haven't really been able to get it to do anything interesting beyond triggering some crappy sounding arpeggios. What am I missing?
