I'm a gfx designer so i have a few questions b4 getting this mac
1. I know theres a problem with running adobe programs but does this include dreamweaver also? and if it does is there somethin i can use in its place?
2. Is Matte/Gloss better for graphic design?
3. will my adobe cs2 serial numbers work for a mac or do i have to buy another copy?
4. Is the adobe cs3 beta free or do i need a copy of cs2 4 the mac?
5. Will adobe cs2 apps still run slow if i run them in windows xp? or is that just on osx?
6. Since I'm goin to be gettin help from my dad to pay 1/3 of the amount i need some kind of info to persuade him..like macs arent able to get viruses.. (can they at all?)..stuff like that or reasons y macs r better for gfx designers? I know they are but I never knew exactly what made them better.. so im just askin cuz i would have a better chance to get the comp now instead of in a month :)

1) Photoshop and other applications developed for the mac before the switch to Intel based CPU's use rosetta, which translates the code from old to new so that it can run on the intel based computers. - Personally I run photoshop on my MBP and I can't really tell a difference between it and my Windows Based PC... I don't do really intensive stuff, though.. Mostly painting; I do art for video games.

I'm not sure about dreamweaver, sorry.

2) Matte displays colors more accurate.

3) No clue

4) No clue

5) No, it will not be slow in windows, as it doesn't use emulation.

6) Tell him Macs are more stable than PC's, I recently made the switch and the MBP was my first Mac. I couldn't be more happy and I'm hardly ever on my PC now. Aside from a few battery problems due to user error, I have been completely error free. So in my case Macs really do "Just work"

It isn't impossible to get a virus on a mac. But it is rare if you do, mostly because no-one really targets us.

But if you do a google search you can find tons of sites that compare the two, I personally like not having a DLL crazy OS and a messy registry.

Cheers,
Alex
