I'm really not meaning to sound like a troll,

I am planning on getting a 32GB Wi-Fi + 3G, but not I'm thinking, why don't I just fork out some extra cash and get a Mac Air.

Apart from simplicity of use I'm not sure really not what advantage a iPad would have for casual internet/e-mail device so using of the couch or cafe.

(I really don't need games, as I seldom play them on my phone as it is,)

There must be hundreds of posts similar to this. If you want a laptop, get a laptop. You can even get them for less money than an iPad.

If you don't get the point of a tablet, you probably shouldn't waste your time/money getting one.

i have had an air for 2 years. love it. use it at night for casual browsing and light word processing. it gets hot and the battery doesn't last that long, so it's not great to use for video.

ipad will replace most of the time i use the air, which i will still use when i need to type a lot.

iPad 32GB + 3G cost $730

Macbook Air cost like $1500......i think............

nearly double...the price.

Your choice buddy.

And you get a world class multi-tasking OS, physical keyboard, the ability to run flash, photoshop, and every other OSX program. You also get a real USB port, and the ability to hook up an optical drive. It is his choice and depending on his needs, it may be a better option.

And dont forget all those gray lines across the screen:rolleyes:

Don't be tempted by the hot new thing, focus on what you need a device to do. Apple has a nice line-up, so I'm sure you will find that one of them (iPad, Air, Macbook, Macbook Pro) fits your mobile needs.

Mark my words, this forum will be filled with even more complaints about the iPad, than you have heard so far, from all those who bought it but really needed a laptop. Yes the iPad is magical but it will not morph into something it is not. It has limitations that some can't and shouldn't do without if they need them (physical keyboard, camera-ichat, USB, greater internal storage, etc).

Good luck.
