Does anyone else have the problem of the Mighty Mouse having a mind of its own and sending the icon to the opposite direction you want it to go to.

My mighty mouse will shoot in the opposite direction really fast every once in a while, but i chalk that up to having a white mousepad. I'm sure that is not a good excuse, but it doesn't happen enough for me to care that much.

My original mouse that came with my iMac shot in the opposite direction sometimes. But my mighty mouse doesn't. But whenever I use it it quits AIM so I always have to use iChat which sometimes isn't that conveinent for sending files to friends and such.

seriously all ihave is problems with it, a week ago the scroll button went kerplunk then came back to life.

ha ha

we all hate our Mighty Mouses.....

but none of us want to smash it because it was so expensive.....

After scrubbing the hell out of the scroll ball on a wet piece of paper, it works great again...but for a long time I had just given up and accepted that it would never scroll up again...

I assume it has nothing to do with the surface on which the mouse travels? Sometimes, if there is not enough data (surface has nothing the laser can "tag"), you can get odd behaviours like that... just a thought.

I hated mine.

The right-click kept registering as a left-click. I gave it to my parents and got a Logitech LX7.

The left right clicks are mostly user errors, you can't keep both finger on, then it will be a left click.

Mine does fly once in a while, but not often, I actually use it, and I have a Logitech MX500 ;)

I freaking hate my MM now..all it does is make me angry...it does what it wants.

Worse product from apple to date.

Bless

I was initially interested in one but decided not to buy it until I'd tried it so I stopped in at the Regent Street Apple Store last year and gave it a bash (not literally). I'm very glad that I did this because I discovered that it's not for me since the scroll speed was too slow (despite increasing it in the Preferences to the maximum) and the side buttons were just awful. Presently I am continuing to work with my old Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3. I like the concept of the Mighty Mouse but the implementation left a lot to be desired.

Yeah, I haven't been blown away by mine. The side buttons are too stiff, the right click is awkward, the lead is pitifully short and its dodgy on anything mildly reflective. (Magazine covers for instance).

However, I did find myself trying to scroll sideways several times at work today - so it does have its uses!

So don't buy a Mighty Mouse???

I just ordered a MacBook Pro and was going to go to the Apple Store today and pick up a mighty mouse but from what I am hearing they suck and only work correctly for a month. Is this true? And am I right to assume I shouldn't spend my money on it? How about the Apple Wireless Mouse (Bluetooth), does that mouse work well?
Thanks for the help.

Flying MM

Flying MM is generally due to a bit of sh*te in the LED thingy. Clean it out and it will be happy. That having been said, never having been a PC user (see sig) I find the r-l click business a bit complicated for my tiny little brain. The scroll button is cool though, so get one.

I guess I'm in the minority but I think the MM is great. I've never had a problem with it and I like the scroll button a lot more than the wheel on other mice.

That's what i've heard, but I tried that, it doesn't always work even with my other finger off.

The scroll nub is the killer feature of this mouse - it's what keeps me using it. The side buttons though are pretty awful... hard to click and poorely placed (for me... YMMV). The cord *is* too short. It does get mucky once in awhile, necessitating cleaning. Overall, I grade it a B. Still I like it very much... ah, that scroll nub... infinitely better than any scrollwheel *I've* ever used!
