Mighty mouse lost connection/won't reconnect

I did a search but found nothing on this problem.

I have a iMac 27" that's just a few months old. I have put new batteries in the mighty mouse but still have this problem. I am constantly losing connection of my mighty mouse. It will reconnect and work fine for a short time then the connection will be lost. This has happened quite frequently as of late. This time though, it will not reconnect at all.

Can anyone tell me:

Why am I constantly losing connection to my mighty mouse?

How do I get my mighty mouse to connect to my iMac?

How far away are you sitting from your iMac and how many times have you replaced the batteries, perhaps you replaced dead batteried with defective ones?
